Tenants' Rights and Responsibilities
What are Your Rights?
As a client of Gateway Community Group you have certain rights and responsibilities. Yours rights include:
- The right to assistance. If we are unable to offer assistance within our resources, we will attempt to refer you to a service which can.
- The right to have your privacy respected -including confidentiality of any information you give to us.
- The right to receive support without pressure to go in a particular direction.
- The right to participate in any available programs
- The right to discuss your needs, and to receive support in reaching your goals.
You also have the right to make complaints about the service that you receive and to put forward suggestions on improving the service.
For information on how to make a complaint see the brochure “Not Happy with the Service” or the Information Statement Renting in Queensland booklet. Copies of both are available at the office and in your Tenant’s Handbook.
What are Your Responsibilities?
With rights come responsibilities. Your responsibilities within the service are designed to respect people's dignity, rather than take away personal freedoms. Your main responsibilities within the service are:
- All Tenants and their lessors are bound to comply with the law. It is important to understand yours rights and responsibilities during your tenancy. Please refer to the Information Statement Renting in Queensland booklet (On page 7 you will find information about your rights and responsibilities).
- To inform staff if you are encountering difficulties.
- To work towards agreed goals, with your support worker.
- These goals can be flexible and can be altered according to your situation.
